Our congregation is concerned that we be dominated by the Spirit of Christ rather that the chaotic spirits of this present evil age. We are passionate to proclaim the historic, orthodox, Christian faith that has been "once for all delivered to the saints" (
Jude 3). We believe this Biblical faith has been imparted in the form of confessions both in Scripture (see
Acts 15 and
Philippians 2) and in the history of Christ's Church. Thus we are a confessional church, delighting in the continuity of the Christian faith through the ages.
Our confessional authority, or "fundamental law" is the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Reformed Presbyterian Testimony. After careful study, we are persuaded that this system of Reformed and Presbyterian doctrine is faithful to, and founded upon the revealed will of God in the Scriptures. Central to this document are
five foundational truths that are integral to the Christian Gospel:
It is this Gospel we seek to proclaim and understand week by week, through the plain and lively preaching of the Word of God. We work to access good preaching. We prepare our hearts. We receive the word with gladness, and seek to practically obey it in our lives. We test everything according to the Scriptures.
Jesus the Messiah was the greatest teacher of all time. He made it perfectly clear that "the words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works" (
John 14:10). It is the words of Jesus in the Gospel that have been entrusted to the church, and thus our local congregation is zealous to proclaim (in both pulpit and community) the content of the sacred Scriptures.
